Do you remember your first time applying black eyeliner? I always try to block those memories from my mind while also hiding any evidence, until now. Yup, black kohl pencil liner is totally trending! During the latest NYFW, fashion and beauty enthusiast were raving over the “I woke up like this kohl-rimmed liner.”

This trend is all about modernizing the way we wear our liner. So basically, we are going for not just “lived-in” hair trends but now “lived-in” liner trends. All you need is a steady hand and a great black kohl liner. After you apply liner to both the top of your lid and the bottom, smudge the product gently for a “slept-in” effect. Your finger in the easiest tool for smudging. There are some liner pencils that have a smudger of the opposite end of the pencil if you are wanting a tool to do the job for you. This may be a cleaner method, but using your finger is cheaper and more accessible.

If you’re reading this already questioning, “can I pull this look off?” There is another option for you, keeping you in the beauty trend loop but not pushing it to the limit. Forfeit the top and bottom liner and just stick to trying a strong cat eye on your top lid. Create a thick band of liner, then wing the corner for a more drastic approach. Think Amy Winehouse if you are needing a visual. If you are inspired to give the winged eyeliner a try, I would recommend more of a cream liner and apply it with a thin, malleable brush for a smoother, more attractive application.

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. This is a daring look, yes, but it’s ok to be bold! You are more attractive when you’re confident!! Give this “black-out” look a try!
