I want to speak with passion today. Although you cannot hear my voice or see my face, I want you to feel as if I am sitting directly in front of you, holding your hand, and speaking to your heart. Find your secret place and listen to the Spirit as we remind ourselves of who created us. You are the only you. God made you beautiful is his perfect mirror image. Not one person looks like another, so let’s stop comparing ourselves to the “pretty girl” in the room. You are pretty. You are adored. You are you.

Gain your own type of confidence by reminding yourself that you are unique and that you were made by a perfect God who knew that he wanted you to look exactly the way you do. How amazing is this when we really stop and think: God thought about every single detail while creating you, and smiled as he created his perfect child. So when we frown upon ourselves as we stand facing in the mirror critiquing every single thing, we are sending Our Creator a message saying we do not like what he has created. Can you image all the things he hears us say about ourselves? Can you imagine how defeated he must feel every time we speak negatively about something he has spent time and effort into creating?

When we are preoccupied with thoughts about our physical appearance, we profess that the world’s standard of beauty matters more than God’s. Why do we value things of this world that Jesus proclaimed we are not a part of even though we remain in it? Scripture reads in 1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of this world.” To follow-up with his truths, John 17:15 says, “I am not asking you to take them out of this world, but to keep them safe from Satan’s power. They are not part of this world any more than I am. Make them pure and holy through teaching them your words of truth. As you sent me into the world, and I consecrate myself to meet their need for growth in truth and holiness.”

Jesus proclaims that he wants us to feel the glorious unity of being one, as he and the Father are. He says, “I in them and you in me, all being perfected into one, so that the world will know you sent me and they will know that you love them as much as you love me.”

As I read his word that is spoken to me, my heart drifts into this secret place and my mind in consumed by how much He loves us. His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. He gives us his word for security and reminds us that he sees us through the eyes of perfect love. When Satan’s power tries to come in and disrupt your day, remember that scripture says that you are not of this world. Your future has already been promised to you.

When negative thoughts creep into your mind as you walk past the mirror, or even as you pass “the pretty girl,” remind yourself that those thoughts are not of God. He would never want you to view yourselves any other way than beautiful, so immediately stop and thank Jesus for creating you healthy and happy. Do not choose to live by your emotions, instead, choose to give it to God and let him transform you opinions. Scripture quotes, “Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer.” It’s amazing to me how God will take you and mold you into something far greater than we can see for ourselves. Look at me; I was once broken by insecurities, now God is using my story to speak to you through a faith-based beauty blog. Wow, talk about testimony, right? God is so good.

Now, let’s pray: Dear Heavenly Father, We are so thankful that you will never leave us alone. We are thankful that you, Lord, are our support and our very best friend. Your love is more than enough. Your love is the greatest love of all. Your love is perfect, and it is perfected in us. Your love is a free gift that never fails. Your love is made complete in us, and it made perfect in weakness. We are so thankful that we can recognize you as our Savior, the one who saves us from being lost. Lord, I ask that you enter into the hearts of all women to show us that we are made perfect in your image, and thanking you for spending the time hand-crafting each of us to be perfect in the eyes of love. Teach us Lord to see beauty when we look into the mirror. Help us to see through your perspective so that we may find confidence and gain a thankful heart.
