I’m so honored to be a part of Radiant Magazine and writing the self-care column. I want to share with you one the biggest self-discoveries I’ve made over the year.
As women we wear so many hats; wife, mom, friend, sister, daughter, boss, leader, creative, mentor; the list goes on and on. It can be difficult to balance all the hats we wear without losing sight of who we are as a person. A year ago I found myself lost in the midst of all the titles I had. I knew how to be a good wife, a praiseworthy daughter, awesome friend, but didn’t know how to be me. I set out to find myself and in the process found my voice.
Finding your voice begins with asking the questions “ Are you happy? Do you like the person in the mirror?” Learning to be comfortable with who you are as an individual, outside of your titles, is the biggest investment you will make in your life. The payoff of that investment is a life full of purpose behind your words, deeds, and confidence in yourself. That purpose and confidence translates into the ability to express yourself, chase dreams, practice vulnerability, be accountable to others, and lead by example.
If you feel like you’re knee deep in responsibilities that come along with all the hats you wear, I want to encourage you to take a moment to check in with yourself. Make sure you’re still in touch with who you are and what you want. If you’re not, take a moment to get plugged back into yourself. Watch the voice that you gain from it.
