Do you struggle with fear in your life? I know I do. My biggest fear: failure.
So let me tell you about it. I like to be the best at everything. I used to find myself thinking, am I a good wife, friend, writer [insert-title-here]. The idea of failing someone was terrifying to me.
I have learned though, that for so many of us, fear of failure holds us back. In relationships it can hold us back from fully investing and in life it keeps us from achieving the hopes and dreams we have in our hearts. It is Satan’s biggest strategy to convince us it isn’t even worth trying. But that is such a lie.
God has birthed dreams and desires deep in your heart for you to carry into this world in a unique way. You are created to represent a unique facet of who He is. No one else can live out any certain dream the way you are able to. Don’t let the devil con you out of living in fullness, freedom, and the boldness to go after those dreams!
Can you imagine all the things that weren’t accomplished because fear convinced people not to do it? We live surrounded by people with unrealized dreams and that is scary to think about. People settle for the safer route because fear convinces them that their aspirations are not smart, logical, or timely. Some people talk themselves out of going for it — thinking it was just a pipe dream. But I’m here to tell you don’t listen to those lies. It’s time we stand up with courage and go after what we were each meant to do with boldness.
One of our favorite courageous women Kavita Ramdas spoke, “We need women who are so strong that they can be gentle, so educated that they can be humble, so fierce that they can be compassionate, so passionate that they can be rational, and so disciplined that they can be free. We need uncommon women. And here you are. And how deeply reassuring to me it is to know that wherever we go—there you will be.”
Today, I encourage you to take a leap of faith. I encourage you to dig down deep inside and think about what makes you burn. Yes burn, because this will land you right at your purpose! Self-assessment can be uncomfortable, because we are often faced with the reality of where we have settled and what has held us back. But I promise you, what you are made for, what will make your heart come alive, is resting deep down inside you.
Once you discover what stirs your passion, write down some steps toward living it out. It won’t to happen over night. It’s not a “you’re-in-or-you’re-out” type of thing. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to, even with limitations due to circumstances “X-Y-Z” in your life. You have your own parameters. But some planning, some bravery, and a little bit of hustle, you can accomplish the goals ablaze in your soul.
